BEST KNIVES FOR 2005 - 2006:
*2005 - 2006 Best Design

TigerSharp knives are distinct in their repaceable blade edge, a patented system called the "Replacement Edge System", that allows even those without the ability to sharpen a knife the functionality of always having a sharp knife at hand. It was a bold concept to introduce to the public, and it has been readily accepted by consumers.

is replaceable.  TigerSharp's Replaceable Edge System (RES, Ed.)

Hunting Knives

"There is another interesting
piece of technology in the knife world today.  These are knives
with replaceable cutting edges.  A surgeon uses scalpels with
replaceable blades.  The TigerSharp knives use replaceable
cutting edges.  The replaceable part is sandwiched within the
main body of the blade itself.  Thus, a thin section with the
cutting edge can be slipped into the main knife, putting a new,
razor-sharp cutting edge in your hands in short order.  For those
who like interesting tooling, or who do not want to learn to sharpen
their knives, the TigerSharp blades are very interesting."

There is always a wide variety
of opinions of what is the best knife available to the American public
each year.  Sometimes the companies themselves claim these titles
with no enough to backup other than their own opinions.  In other
venues these titles are bestowed by little more than a popularity
contest.  At the Knives illustrated  Spirit of Steel
Show the titles of "Best Knife" are bestowed by a panel of
experienced, unbiased judges with years of experience in the world of
knives.

The awards are given in
one-on-one comparisons with the other knives entered in the category.
In other words the "Best Knife" title is awarded by judges in an open
competition at the Knives illustrated  Spirit of Steel
Show each year.

The winners for 2003-2004
include some of the most innovative knives in cutlery.

TigerSharp
Knife

At the
booth of a quintessential bright young whippersnapper named Steve
Overholt, we found something truly new and quite sensible in the realm
of field knives.  This Montanan has addressed the dark secret
that although all real men don't eat quiche, some of them can't
sharpen a knife worth a hoot.  Some of us, of course, will feel
obliged to say that this knife is of interest primarily as an
excellent gift for the wife or brother-in-law because they don't know
how to sharpen a knife.  But there's been more than one time that
we let a blade get duller than would come back with a couple minutes
work because we were fighting encroaching darkness, and as a result
did a sloppy job of dressing a hide.  Some of the new diamond
sharpeners are amazingly fast at putting an edge back on a knife, but
they don't do it in two seconds when the sun is sinking away from you.
But the TigerSharp does - by replacing the edge.

    Dear TigerSharp,

Before my father was born, my family began a tradition of giving one
knife a year as a birthday present, beginning at the year of birth.
With my grandfather's blades now in my possession, I am the proud
owner of close to one-hundred quality knives, some dating back to
WWII.  As the owner of so many knives, I am familiar with their
many aspects, attributes and drawbacks and can recognize quality
    almost immediately.   Read
